The lab is looking for a talented, passionate individual to communicate its research through a combination of strategic thinking, targeted engagement, and compelling content creation.

As the lab's Technical Communications Manager, you will work closely with Professor Mihaela van der Schaar and the research team to develop and implement a multi-channel communications strategy to increase visibility and engagement among various target audiences.

You will identify opportunities to showcase the lab's research, create high-quality written and visual content explaining the value, novelty, and impact of the research, and plan and host sessions in the lab's online engagement series: "Inspiration Exchange" (for machine learning and AI students and professionals) and "Revolutionizing Healthcare" (for clinicians). These series aim to foster interdisciplinary communities and share insights on machine learning in healthcare. More information can be found at: https://www.vanderschaar-lab.com/engagement-sessions/.

You will oversee multiple platforms including the lab's website, social media, mailing lists, and YouTube channel. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as researchers, funding partners, and clinicians, will also be key.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
  1. Experience across various communication disciplines;
  2. Ability to explain complex topics and promote ideas across diverse audiences and platforms;
  3. Exceptional writing and editing skills;
  4. Experience hosting online events via Zoom, Teams, or similar platforms;
  5. Strong project management and organizational skills;
  6. Familiarity with blogging platforms like WordPress;
  7. Basic knowledge of audiovisual software such as Adobe Premiere;
  8. Some familiarity with machine learning concepts.
