Owen Daniels is seeking a Structures Technical Authority for a 6-month outside IR35 contract in the UK, with hybrid work options in Alton (Hampshire) or Kidlington (Oxfordshire). Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of aerospace structures (airframes, wings, tailplanes).
• Deliver structural analysis, substantiation, load assessments and change evaluations.
• Apply expertise in composite materials and lightweight structures.
• Ensure structural integrity, fatigue and damage tolerance requirements.
• Support structural testing, verification and engineering compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve engineering challenges.
• Lead technical reviews and mentor engineers.

An innovative aerospace technology company, backed by a leading global defence organisation, is developing cutting-edge autonomous platforms and high-altitude systems for some of the world's most challenging environments.

We're looking for an experienced Structures Technical Authority ,this is an exciting opportunity to take technical ownership of structural design, analysis and assurance, with a particular focus on lightweight and composite structures.

The Role

You'll provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on, ensuring structural integrity and performance from initial concept through to manufacture, verification and in-service support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the design and development of aerospace structures, including airframes, wings, tailplanes and mechanical assemblies.
• Delivering structural analysis, substantiation, load assessments and engineering change evaluations.
• Applying expertise in composite materials, lightweight structures and manufacturing processes.
• Ensuring structural integrity, fatigue and damage tolerance requirements are met.
• Supporting structural testing, verification and engineering compliance.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Leading technical reviews and mentoring engineers across the team.

About You

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven structural design and analysis experience within aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of composite materials, lightweight structures and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with structural integrity, fatigue, damage tolerance and load assessments.
• Familiarity with structural analysis software and delivering projects through to verification and release.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions.

Experience in aerospace, defence, space, UAVs, structural testing or environmental qualification would be advantageous. Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC or DV) is also desirable.
