Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Technical Author within our Aeroderivative Gas Turbines Technical Services team in Warwick, you will help ensure the engineers and technicians supporting our global gas turbine fleet have access to accurate, practical, and technically robust documentation.

You’ll use your understanding of complex engineering equipment to turn drawings, schematics, engineering data, and technical expertise into clear operation, maintenance, and overhaul manuals. Working closely with Service Engineering, Technical Support, Field Service, and technical illustrators, you’ll make sure documentation reflects how our equipment is actually operated and maintained in the field.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who combines strong technical writing capability with practical engineering knowledge and enjoys making complex technical information easier to understand and use.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Write, update, and validate operation, maintenance, and overhaul manuals covering aeroderivative gas turbines, enclosures, auxiliary equipment, and associated systems.
  • Interpret engineering information including mechanical drawings, 3D models, piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical specifications, translating complex information into clear, user-focused documentation.
  • Work directly with Technical Support, Service Engineering, Field Service, and other subject matter experts to validate technical content and ensure procedures accurately reflect equipment and field requirements.
  • Coordinate with technical illustrators to develop diagrams, exploded views, sectional drawings, and other visual content that makes complex maintenance and operational procedures easier to understand.
  • Manage documentation through its full lifecycle, including content updates, version control, review, approval, content reuse, and migration into Product Lifecycle Management systems such as PLM360.
  • Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, safety, consistency, and regulatory compliance while identifying opportunities to improve authoring processes, tools, and documentation quality.
What You Bring
  • Strong practical knowledge of industrial machinery, ideally aeroderivative or industrial gas turbines, gained through Technical Authoring, Field Service, Maintenance, Engineering, or a similar technical environment.
  • Proven technical writing experience with the ability to transform complex engineering information into clear operation, maintenance, service, or overhaul instructions for technical users.
  • Confidence interpreting engineering documentation including mechanical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, technical specifications, and ideally 3D engineering models.
  • A relevant Engineering or Technical Communication qualification, or equivalent vocational training and substantial practical industry experience.
  • Experience managing technical documentation, including structured content, revision and version control, technical review processes, and Product Lifecycle Management or similar documentation systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge or clarify technical information with subject matter experts.
