Job summary

OCU Group is seeking a Technical Assurance Advisor to strengthen our NERS compliance across utility infrastructure activities. Based nationwide with office-based role, you will lead audits, review management systems, and support accreditation programs to ensure delivery meets industry standards.

You will work with operations, quality teams and external bodies to drive continuous improvement, handle non-conformances, and deliver practical guidance and training on NERS requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in utilities, power/energy, or infrastructure in quality/compliance roles.
• Strong knowledge of NERS requirements and utility connections.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections or compliance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal audits to ensure NERS compliance and company procedures.
• Support maintenance and development of NERS accreditations and scopes.
• Review quality management systems and procedures for alignment with standards.
• Monitor performance against NERS standards and identify improvements.
• Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate external audits, surveillance visits and accreditation assessments.

Are you a field based engineer working in energy experienced in NERS now looking for a new challenge? As a Technical Assurance Advisor, you will play a critical role in maintaining and strengthening OCU's operational compliance across our utility infrastructure activities. Supporting the management of our NERS accreditations, you'll help ensure that our systems, processes, and operational delivery continue to meet the highest industry standards.

This is an opportunity to work closely with operational teams, quality professionals, and external accrediting bodies, helping to drive continuous improvement, technical compliance, and operational excellence across the business. What you'll do

• Lead internal audits to ensure compliance with NERS requirements, quality standards, and company procedures.
• Support the maintenance and development of OCU's NERS accreditations and accreditation scopes.
• Review quality management systems, operational documentation, and procedures to ensure alignment with industry requirements.
• Monitor operational performance against NERS standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Investigate non-conformances and work with operational teams to implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
• Coordinate and support external audits, surveillance visits, and accreditation assessments.
• Provide guidance and technical support to operational teams on compliance and quality matters.
• Deliver training, briefings, and awareness sessions relating to NERS requirements, technical standards, and quality processes.

What you'll bring

• Experience within the utilities, power/energy, or infrastructure sector in a quality, compliance, technical, or operational role.
• Strong understanding of NERS requirements and utility connection activities.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, or compliance reviews.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret technical standards and translate them into practical operational requirements.
• Full UK driving licence.

• Engineering, technical, or utility-related qualification.
• Bonus if you hold an IOSH qualification or other health and safety certification.
• It would be great if you have worked directly with Lloyd's Register assessments or accreditation frameworks.
• It would be great if you have experience managing non-conformance and corrective action processes.
• Previous experience within a DNO, ICP, IDNO, or utility network environment would be advantageous.
