Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Technical Administrator to join the Network Management Team in Highways and Transport. You will process Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders, order extensions and events orders to support temporary works and events on the highway.

You will also provide business support administration for the Council's Network Management duties, handling regular and ad-hoc tasks with focus on accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at A-C (or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 3 in a related field or BTEC/ONC/Diploma, or demonstrable highway admin experience.
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible, to train others and work in a team.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook; data entry and admin tasks.
  • Understanding of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders is a bonus.

Job description

An exciting position has become available for a Technical Administrator to join the Network Management Team, Highways and Transport. In this role, you will undertake the processing of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs), Order extensions and Events Orders. The Temporary Orders are to facilitate temporary works and events on the highway. You will also assist in providing business support administration for the delivery of the Council's Network Management responsibility. This position includes both regular and ad-hoc administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is efficient and understands the importance of accuracy and detail when undertaking administrative functions to support legal responsibilities.

  • Have a good standard of education, including English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 3 in a subject relevant to the business area or BTEC ONC or Diploma in a technical or administrative field. OR demonstratable experience Working in the highway maintenance and construction industry, Problem solving & analysing information, Proactive planning and organisation. Experience of Compiling and interpreting reports.
  • Possess excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with good numeracy skills. Be able to work within set timescales and prioritise workload.
  • Be willing to be flexible, learn and undertake a variety of different tasks, to develop yourself and to train others, be skilled in teamwork and be able to build strong relationships.
  • Have administrative experience covering a range of tasks such as word processing, filing, photocopying, taking and relaying messages, and data entry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word and Outlook, or another email/internet package, is required.
  • While not essential, it would be beneficial to have an understanding of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.
