Job summary

Sellick Partnership is recruiting a Technical Accountant (Capital & Treasury) for a 6-9 month interim contract. The role is fully remote and focuses on treasury management, capital accounting, fixed assets, and statutory reporting within a Local Government context.

The successful candidate will lead cashflow forecasting, oversee borrowing and investments, support year-end closes, and ensure timely statutory accounts, with partnership across finance teams and external advisors.

• Deliver variance analysis and technical accounting support to senior finance colleagues.
• Liaise with treasury advisors, auditors, brokers and banking partners as required.
• Contribute to budget setting and medium-term financial planning processes.

Technical Accountant (Capital & Treasury)

Day Rate: Up to £700 per day
Contract Length: 6-9 Months

Sellick Partnership are currently supporting a large Local Authority in the recruitment of an experienced Technical Accountant (Capital & Treasury) for an interim contract of 6-9 months. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong local government finance professional to join a busy finance team and support key treasury, capital accounting and year-end activities.

Working remotely, as the Technical Accountant you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of treasury management activities, capital accounting, fixed asset management and statutory financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on treasury management activities, including cashflow forecasting, borrowing and investment management.
• Prepare treasury management reports and Prudential Indicators.
• Support the production of statutory accounts and year-end closedown processes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Experience working within Local Government finance.
• Strong knowledge of capital accounting, treasury management and local authority accounting requirements.
• Experience supporting or leading on year-end accounts and closedown activities.
• A proven track record of managing cashflow and treasury functions.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience of financial management systems.
