Job summary

The Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated Technical Accountant for a six-month contract with a local authority in Bromsgrove. The role focuses on specialist accounting and treasury management to deliver high-quality corporate finance services in line with CIPFA guidance and statutory requirements.

The postholder will lead on technical accounting, treasury forecasting and cash flow modelling while supporting financial planning, reporting and IFRS compliance.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' Local Government finance experience.
• Experience in technical accounting, corporate finance and IFRS reporting.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on technical accounting matters and provide expert financial advice.
• Support corporate finance and treasury management functions.
• Develop, implement and maintain CIPFA Cash Flow Models.
• Lead cash flow forecasting and treasury forecasting activities.
• Ensure IFRS 9 reporting and financial instrument compliance.
• Prepare statutory accounts and financial statements.
• Provide treasury management analysis and reporting.
• Liaise with auditors and stakeholders.
• Support budget monitoring and medium-term financial planning.
• Develop complex forecasting models and spreadsheets.
