Job summary

Greene King is seeking a Finance Centre of Excellence Technical Accountant to lead VAT, Fixed Assets, IFRS16 and treasury accounting across the group. You will drive technical accounting governance, support statutory reporting, audits and ensure compliance with IFRS, VAT and company policies.

You will partner with regional teams, deliver robust accounting guidance, support finance transformation projects and coach others to improve controls and reporting quality.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA preferred; ACCA considered.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP).
• Significant VAT experience, including VAT return preparation.
• IFRS16 accounting knowledge.
• Treasury accounting experience desirable.
• Experience preparing technical accounting papers.
• Advanced Excel and ERP systems knowledge.
• Experience working across multiple legal entities.
• Big 4 audit background desirable.
• Large company experience essential.
• High attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Technical accounting lead across VAT, Treasury, Fixed Assets, IFRS16 and other specialist accounting areas.
• Assessment and implementation of accounting standard changes.
• Support for statutory reporting, audits and compliance requirements.
• Review of complex accounting transactions and balance sheet integrity.
• Support finance transformation, system implementations and process improvements.
• Provide subject matter expertise for all technical accounting matters within the FCoE.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, VAT legislation and company accounting policies.
• Deliver robust technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.
• Support accurate and timely period-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting.
• Maintain strong balance sheet integrity through review and challenge of accounting treatments.
• Successfully support internal and external audit requirements.
• Implement accounting standard changes effectively and within required timelines.
• Increase technical capability across the R2R CBS and Fixed Asset teams through coaching and knowledge sharing.
• Drive continuous improvement in controls, processes and financial reporting quality.
• Support successful delivery of finance transformation and system implementation projects.
• Improve governance and reduce reliance on Corporate and Group Finance for technical accounting matters.
• Maintain high levels of stakeholder satisfaction through effective support and communication.
