Job summary

BIP is seeking a Technical Lead – Java & Web Platforms to guide the design and delivery of complex digital platforms for UK and international clients. You will lead cross‑functional teams across backend, frontend, DevOps and QA, blending hands‑on coding with architectural leadership.

You will translate business needs into scalable architectures, drive API‑led solutions, ensure security and reliability, and mentor engineers across distributed teams in a fast‑moving consultancy environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing, developing and delivering complex enterprise web applications or digital platforms.
• Proven experience operating as a Technical Lead or Lead Software Engineer.
• Hands-on software engineering background with deep backend focus in Java/Spring.
• Experience delivering cloud-native microservices and API-led solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex web applications and digital platforms.
• Translate business requirements into pragmatic technical designs and plans.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across back-end, front-end, DevOps and QA.
• Define architecture, APIs, data flows and deployment approaches.
• Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping and reviews.
• Establish engineering standards for quality, security and observability.
• Mentor engineers and drive ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, analysts and stakeholders on priorities.
