Job summary

William Blair in London is seeking an Associate for its newly established European Private Capital Markets team to advise high-growth technology businesses on raising private capital. You will conduct analyses, build financial models, perform due diligence, and help prepare materials for founders and investors.

You will train Analysts and summer interns, collaborate with management teams and the European investor ecosystem, and help recruit to grow the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 2+ years as an Investment Banking Associate or equivalent in growth equity/private capital markets strongly preferred.
• A genuine passion for technology and disruptive business models.
• Familiar with modelling cap tables including waterfall analyses.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills.
• Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice.
• Ability to manage expectations of senior bankers while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective leadership and coaching skills.
• Strong desire to win with entrepreneurial drive to build a new team.
• Sound judgement; remains calm and focused under pressure.
• Deep understanding of accounting and finance; comfortable valuing high-growth, capital-intensive businesses.
• Travel required: approximately 10% to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead due diligence, research, analysis and documentation of transactions. Anticipate deal issues and escalate as needed.
• Actively participate in transaction materials, building differentiated equity stories for private capital investors.
• Develop, produce and deliver proposals to founders, management and investors highlighting William Blair's private capital markets solutions.
• Actively participate in client meetings and drafting sessions.
• Research and deepen expertise across technology sectors; monitor industry drivers and trends.
• Take ownership of client relationships and dialogue across the private capital investor universe.
• Demonstrate understanding of macro and technology factors related to client sectors and products.
• Identify improvements to processes; act as on-the-job trainer for Analysts and interns.
• Help build culture and infrastructure of a new team; participate in recruiting and training.
• Ensure all activities comply with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
