Connex Education is seeking a Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and inclusive school in Barking. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in behaviour management who are dedicated to creating a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

This welcoming and nurturing school caters to students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH difficulties, and behavioural challenges. The school is committed to providing tailored support to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Role Details

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term

Salary: £100 per day

Who We’re Looking For

We are searching for a passionate and resilient individual who meets the following criteria:
Team Teach certification (essential)
Experience working with SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
Ability to provide 1:1 and small group support, adapting to individual learning needs
Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations
A positive and proactive mindset when supporting students’ well-being
A DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students engage with their learning
• Implement Team Teach strategies to encourage positive behaviour and de-escalate situations
• Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to maintain an inclusive learning environment
• Help students build independence, confidence, and resilience through structured interventions
• Monitor and provide feedback on student progress, behaviour, and emotional well-being
• Support students with personal care or sensory needs if required
