Job summary

Brook Street Social Care in Redhill, Surrey is recruiting an experienced Team Manager to lead a multidisciplinary Family Assessment Unit delivering parenting assessments and safeguarding to families.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, supervise frontline staff, manage complex cases, and drive service development, with a salary of £65,000 per annum for a full-time permanent post and opportunities for training and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience managing teams in family/social care settings.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and child protection procedures.
• Experience supervising and developing staff.
• Ability to manage complex cases and make sound decisions.
• Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a team of Family Support Workers, Assessors, and Social Workers.
• Oversee the delivery of parenting and family assessments.
• Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and managed appropriately.
• Provide regular supervision, guidance, and performance management to staff.
• Quality assure assessment reports and recommendations.
• Monitor workloads and ensure assessments are completed within agreed timescales.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with Local Authorities and external professionals.
• Support with service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote a positive and supportive culture throughout the service.

Brook Street Social Care is recruiting on behalf of a well-established Family Assessment Unit in Redhill for an experienced Team Manager to lead and support a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality parenting assessments and interventions to families.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager or senior practitioner looking to take the next step in a rewarding and impactful service that helps families achieve positive outcomes.

About the Role

As Team Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operational delivery of the service, ensuring assessments are completed to a high standard while promoting safeguarding, best practice, and excellent outcomes for children and families.
You will provide leadership and supervision to frontline staff, manage complex cases, and work closely with local authorities and other professionals involved in the assessment process.

Requirements

• Previous management experience within a Family Assessment Unit, Residential Children's Service, Children's Social Care, or a similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
• Experience supervising and developing staff teams.
• Ability to manage complex cases and make sound professional decisions.
• Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
• Relevant professional qualification in Social Work, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
