London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Team Manager to join the Children's Safeguarding team.

London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Team Manager to join the Children's Safeguarding team.

The successful candidate will manage and supervise a team of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and other social care staff, providing a service to children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after, children subject to public care proceedings, and, where directed by the court, children subject to private proceedings. You will manage a team of advanced social workers and support staff in a multiagency forum with co-located partners. You will be part of a team of managers who work together to ensure that the service is well-resourced and supported to ensure that children receive the right service at the right time.

The role involves working with children and families in a statutory social care setting with demonstrable experience of decision-making. You will manage a team of managers responsible for providing assessment, review, safeguarding, and duty, and be accountable for the performance management and the quality of work undertaken within the service. The aim is to ensure the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient social work service to children and families. The delivery of the service must be within agreed strategic, operational, and financial priorities, and in accordance with statutory responsibilities, policies, and procedures. Additionally, you will ensure that the key performance targets, as they apply to the team, are met.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of how to deliver complex services for vulnerable children and young people, and integrated/partnership working within current legislation relating to children and young people.
  • Knowledge and a significant understanding of appropriate legislative frameworks and government policy in relation to Children and Young People’s services.
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures
  • Minimum of three years post qualifying experience, including the management and supervision of social care staff undertaking statutory work with children and families, preferably in a fieldwork setting.
  • Proven track record of achievement in performance management and quality assurance processes, best practice standards and evidence-based outcomes.
  • Considerable management experience of complex child protection work, including care proceedings.
  • Experience within inspection framework relevant to Children’s Services.
  • Must have one of the following professional qualifications (unless managing non Social work qualified staff):

CSS, CQSW, DipSW or Degree in social work and currently registered with SWE

  • Relevant subject specific or management professional qualification
  • Evidence of wide-ranging continued professional development
