Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families?

Do you have the drive to support and empower young people to achieve their full potential? If so, Birmingham Children’s Trust wants you!

At Birmingham Children’s Trust, our mission is to ensure every child in our care has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation, committed to innovation and excellence in social work practice.

We are recruiting for a talented and passionate individual to join the Trust as a Team Manager within our busy and creative Children in Care Service.

As a Team Manager, you will lead and coach your team to provide outstanding performance within their individual roles. You will oversee care planning for our children and young people, where we strive to achieve permanence at the earliest opportunity. You will manage the day-to-day requirements of a busy Children in Care team where one day is never the same. Supporting your team to form consistent relationships and connections with children and young people through a trauma informed lens is central to our work. You will work in collaboration with other professionals across the Trust and alongside other agencies, upholding the values of the Trust in all interactions.

You will be responsible for delivering and disseminating service priorities within your team, whilst ensuring high standards of practice and positive outcomes for children. This is a varied and vigorous role, and requires an ambitious, forward-thinking individual who is able to create an aspirational team culture.

This is a fantastic opportunity, working in a supportive collaborative environment where children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. The role is integral to realising our vision and you will lead a team of social workers, adopting our connections count, relationship-based practice model, in ensuring good quality services for children in care and those subject to care proceedings.

About you….

  • You will have excellent time management and organisations skills to oversee your dedicated team.
  • You will demonstrate high levels of resilience, managing and prioritizing demanding workloads.
  • Excellent people management and strong leadership skills to manage your own team.
  • You will be able to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external partner agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children in care.
  • Be a good problem solver, supporting your team of practitioners to make best interest decisions for children in line with legislative, regulatory and best practice guidelines.
  • You will use management information systems to maintain and drive good performance and quality of the practice in your team.
  • You will demonstrate professionalism, leadership and accountability and possess excellent skills in problem solving, analysis and planning.
