Barnardo's Greater Manchester Keyworking Service is seeking a Team Manager to support children and young people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism in the Greater Manchester area. The role covers Salford and Trafford, with office presence and regular cross‑sector collaboration.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, provide day‑to‑day supervision, and contribute to service development, while participating in a weekly on‑call rota and occasional travel across GM.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience of supporting children and young people (up to age 25) with Learning Disability and/or Autism with complex needs.
  • Experience collaborating with and presenting information to key stakeholders.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills within a multi‑disciplinary service.
  • Significant safeguarding knowledge and experience enabling referrals to be made and escalated.
  • Strong recording, QA of practice and development of staff performance.
  • Experience of line management and leadership of teams.
  • Car available for work (business insurance).

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the team.
  • Contribute to service development and delivery with education, health, and social care partners.
  • Work flexibly across the service and travel across Greater Manchester.
  • Be part of the on-call rota with out-of-hours guidance and payment.
  • Attend office ~2 days per week for supervision and team meetings.

Barnardo's Greater Manchester Keyworking Service for Children and Young People with a Learning Disability/Autism (up to age 25)


Are you passionate about children and young people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism having the right support to remain living where possible in the community, avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Team Manager in the Greater Manchester Keyworking Service in our Salford and Trafford team.


As Team Manager you will work closely with key senior managers across education, health and social care to identify how collectively we can provide the right support, in the right way at the right time. You will provide day to day guidance and support, you will be involved in the development of the service, bringing your knowledge, skills, experience, enthusiasm and passion to contribute to better outcomes for children and families. We value creative thinking, problem solving and collaboration.


As a member of the wider service leadership team, you will be required to work flexibly across the service, and this will involve travel across Greater Manchester. You will be part of the on-call rota system providing out of hours guidance, this averages one week in every 2 months for which there is an on-call payment. You are expected to be in the office on average 2 days per week to be available for your team, and also to provide face to face supervision, team meetings and informal support.


The role provides many opportunities to develop your skill set, knowledge and career progression going forward. The service has a comprehensive training offer, and you will be supported by the leadership team within the service and organisation. To be a successful, you will need the following:



  • Significant experience of supporting children and young people (up to the age of 25) with a Learning Disability and or Autism with complex support needs, including Mental Health conditions.

  • Experience of collaborating with and confidently presenting information to key stakeholders, respectfully addressing issues on behalf of CYP and their families.

  • Excellent team working skills. You will work as part of a team that covers Greater Manchester and be a key member of the service leadership team.

  • Significant safeguarding knowledge and experience enabling referrals and escalations to be made and followed through to conclusion.

  • Excellent recording skills and knowledge and the ability to quality assure and develop practice of others.

  • Experience of line management and leadership, supporting the development of individuals and teams.

  • A car available for work with business insurance.
