Job summary

Milton Keynes City Council is recruiting a Team Manager in Adult Social Care. You will provide leadership for a team of health and social care professionals, ensuring high-quality services for adults across Milton Keynes.

You will shape improvements, support colleagues, and work with partner organisations to meet national expectations. This Site-Based role requires visible leadership, budget oversight and a focus on delivering positive outcomes while fostering a supportive, inclusive team

Qualifications

  • A professionally qualified social worker, nurse, or equivalent with a management qualification or experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and up-to-date best practice.
  • Proven leadership to motivate, support and develop colleagues in a frontline environment.
  • Ability to build relationships with residents, colleagues and partners while balancing priorities.
  • Strong decision-making, crisis response and clear plain-English communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of health and social care professionals to deliver high quality services for adults across Milton Keynes.
  • Provide visible leadership, direction and support to colleagues, partner agencies and stakeholders.
  • Manage team performance through supervision, appraisal, coaching and policy adherence.
  • Monitor budgets and ensure resources meet financial targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement to meet national and local performance targets.
  • Investigate complaints and complex issues to achieve timely resolutions.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.

Job Introduction

We’re recruiting a Team Manager to join our Adult Social Care service.

You’ll help shape service improvements, support colleagues to perform at their best and ensure we continue to meet local and national expectations for adult social care.

This is a rewarding leadership role for an experienced professional who is ready to influence service delivery, drive improvement and make a positive difference to the lives of others.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Ideal Candidate
  • A professionally qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist or equivalent relevant professional qualification, together with a management qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and a commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge and best practice.
  • An experienced leader who can motivate, support and develop colleagues while creating a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • A proven track record of delivering high quality services within a complex frontline environment and achieving positive outcomes.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with residents, colleagues and partner organisations while balancing competing priorities and expectations.
  • Confidence in making decisions, managing challenging situations and responding calmly to crisis situations when required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and use plain English in both written and verbal communication.
