Job summary

Norfolk County Council in Great Yarmouth is seeking a Social Work Team Manager for the Corporate Parenting Service on a secondment / temporary fixed term contract until July 2028. The role is 37 hours per week and requires a Social Work qualified degree, strong leadership of a looked after children team, and solid budget and recruitment management.

You will join a committed local management team, working across North, East and Great Yarmouth areas in a hybrid service with regular office

Qualifications

  • Must be Social Work qualified at degree level.
  • Experience managing a team of social workers and strong people management.
  • Knowledge of recruitment, budget management and mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of social workers to deliver high‑quality outcomes for looked after children.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to strengthen safeguarding and care planning.
  • Provide supervision and develop practice within the locality teams.

Social Work Team Manager – Corporate Parenting Service | 11103 | Secondment Opportunity / Temporary Fixed Term Contract until July 2028| 37 hours per week | £50,166 to £54,277 per annum | Grade L | Great Yarmouth

Hi, I am Michelle Jones, Service Manager for In Care at Norfolk County Council. Norfolk is a ‘Outstanding’ authority with ‘aspiration senior leadership’. We are proud of our Social Work Teams and value all our practitioners.

Our Team Managers really support their teams and the work they do to achieve positive outcomes for our young people and our staff.

We are looking for a Team Manager who is Social Work qualified Degree level. You will be experienced in working with looked after children, need experience in manging a team of social workers, an excellent team player and share our vision to provide the best possible outcomes for children and families alongside excellent people management skills, knowledge of recruitment, budget management, and mentoring skills.

In Care is an exciting service in Norfolk which continues to develop and grow. You will be part of developing the working practices within the teams as well as working closely with partner agencies to develop a robust, positive offer to those children and young people. You will be joining a committed, supportive and energetic local management team, supporting a diverse staff group as well as managing a busy locality team focused on delivering a high-quality service. Quality support and supervision will be provided to you, and we look forward to welcoming enthusiastic and dynamic social work professionals.

Norfolk is a fantastic place to live and work. You will be based in Great Yarmouth and work within our North, East and Great Yarmouth area. We are a hybrid service although encourage teams and workers to meet regularly in office spaces which are hybrid friendly. Therefore, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
