Job Description:

Brief Description: From establishing safety arrangements to checking the quality of work, you'll direct and inspire the success of a team involved in everything from inspection and faulting, through to maintenance and renewal.

More about Track Maintenance: You'll be managing a team responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the track network (also known as the Permanent Way or P-Way) to keep the railway safe and efficient. This is a manual role working with rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage, and ancillary structures.

Internal Candidates Please Note: There may be a requirement to work on call if you opt for the Standard Maintenance contract.

About the role (External): You will direct, organize, and motivate a high-performing team, ensuring work is done efficiently, safely, and to high standards. Safety is a priority; you'll establish safety arrangements and ensure compliance. You'll also compile vital reports.

Requirements:

  • Experience in organizing and controlling safe and efficient work delivery
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructions
  • Leadership skills with a clear sense of direction
  • Hold or be working towards NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) or relevant experience
  • Willingness to drive vehicles as needed

This role involves days, nights, and weekends, and is safety-critical, requiring drug and alcohol testing and a medical assessment.
