Job description

Title: Team Leader

Salary/Rate: £12.50 to £13.50 per hour

Location: Reading

Hours: 36 hours / Full time

Flourishing Families is seeking experienced individuals for the role of Team Leader to join our Residential Family Assessment Unit based in Reading, Berkshire. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed people who are reliable and can offer emotional and practical support to our residents, as well as support in the smooth running and operation of the service, with first-level responsibility for the Family Support Workers.

The Flourishing Families Parental Assessment Centre is located in a quiet residential estate in Reading, Berkshire. You will work under our Ofsted Registered Manager and assessing Social Workers. Our ethos is to provide a homely, family-like environment for our service users.

Job Duties and Expectations include:
  1. Support the Manager in day-to-day management and operations of the unit.
  2. Mentor and support colleagues through regular supervisory duties.
  3. Ensure all parent and child information is provided to the assessing Social Worker.
  4. Maintain good quality standards in reports through quality assurance.
  5. Ensure daily tasks by staff are completed.
  6. Familiarize with and adhere to Flourishing Families Policies and Procedures.
  7. Comply with legislation related to safeguarding and confidentiality.
  8. Keep clear and accurate records.
  9. Communicate effectively and demonstrate flexible interpersonal skills.
  10. Use own initiative and focus on solutions.
  11. Work with a strength-based approach with parents and children.
  12. Commit to good practice and equal opportunities, challenging discriminatory practices.
  13. Maintain and promote high levels of professionalism in family residential support work.
  14. Follow safeguarding procedures and alert relevant team members.
  15. Promote a nurturing and supportive environment for families.
  16. Undertake in-house and external training as required.
Schedule:
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day shifts and waking night shifts
  • Weekend availability

This role requires flexibility as it is not a standard 9-5 position.

Education:

Preferably NVQ (Children) Level 3 or above.

Experience:
  • Experience within a Social Care Team
  • Residential Family Support in a Parent and Child Assessment Unit
  • Community Family Support Work
  • Experience as a family support worker in a Local Authority setting
