Job description

We are seeking a Team Leader on the Day shift within the Mattress Department based at our manufacturing site in Beeston, Leeds.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations within the mattress department, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity targets are met, as well as supervising production operatives.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6am - 4pm (39 hours)

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain accurate records of production output, monitor progress and ensure production targets are met.
  2. Ensure downtime is kept to a minimum and authorized.
  3. Ensure stock levels remain adequate.
  4. Monitor production processes and adjust workforce and workflow as needed.
  5. Lead and coordinate a team of production operatives within the mattress department and ensure all are logged onto the Production Performance Management System (PPMS).
  6. Liaise and work with other departments and management to overcome operational issues.
  7. Implement performance improvement techniques to ensure employees work to set standards for production outputs.
  8. Motivate, coach, and train operators to improve performance.
  9. Ensure adherence to quality procedures throughout production.
  10. Monitor and review absences, timekeeping, and performance issues with HR.
  11. Conduct thorough return-to-work interviews to identify issues and seek HR support when necessary.
  12. Adhere to health and safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  13. Work with H&S team to conduct risk assessments and promote safe working practices.
  14. Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the shift.
  15. Collaborate with management to implement productivity and efficiency improvements.
  16. Gather, review, and analyze production, quality, and waste data, preparing reports for management.
