Job summary

Pertemps in the North Chichester area is seeking a Team Leader to oversee our Pre-Paint Manufacturing area. You will lead, coach and inspire a dedicated team across machining, cutting and manual preparation, driving engagement, quality and safe production flow.

The role requires reading technical drawings and practical machinery understanding, with strong communication and collaboration across departments to keep components on schedule and meet exact drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the team across machining, cutting and manual preparation.
• Direct the workflow from machining through to manual preparation to ensure readiness for the Paint Department on schedule.
• Ensure all work meets drawings, models and specifications with a focus on quality and safety.
• Act as the operational link across Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering and Paint; attend daily operational meetings.

Team Leader – Manufacturing

Location: North Chichester area

Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 per annum (subject to experience)

Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–4:30pm, Friday 7:00am–1:30pm (40 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking an engaging, motivated Team Leader (or an ambitious individual with strong leadership aspirations) to oversee our clients Pre-Paint Manufacturing area. You will lead, coach, and inspire a dedicated team across machining, cutting, and manual preparation. Your primary focus will be driving team engagement, maintaining exceptional quality standards, and ensuring a safe, efficient production flow.

Key Responsibilities

• People Leadership: Lead, support, and develop the team, allocating daily work, providing regular coaching, and building an accountable, motivated environment.
• Operational Flow: Direct the workflow from machining through to manual preparation to ensure components are ready for the Paint Department on schedule.
• Quality & Standards: Ensure all work meets exact drawings, models, and specifications, driving continuous process improvements alongside technical teams.
• Collaboration: Act as the operational link across Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Paint, attending key daily operational meetings.

What We Are Looking For

• Previous experience in a manufacturing (any sector), machining, or workshop environment.
• Practical understanding of machinery, cutting, and manual processes (experience with CNC/Emmegi is advantageous).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and e-models.
• Demonstrated leadership skills or the strong desire, aptitude, and confidence to step up into team management.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a commitment to high safety and quality standards.
