Job summary
Coyle Personnel plc has a Railway Civils Team Leader role in Manchester South, reporting to Crewe. The contract runs from 5 October to 24 December 2026 with 70 planned shifts, day or night. The role pays £22.00 per hour and is outside IR35.
The post requires PCI/PTS, COSS, Civils Cert/ATW, and safety certifications, plus a full UK driving licence and prior leadership of civil rail gangs. An in-person induction will occur in Crewe on 5 October at 07:00.
Qualifications
- Valid PTS required.
- COSS certification required.
- Civils Certificate of Competency/ATW.
- Emergency First Aid certification preferred.
- Manual Handling training required.
- Small Tools competency helpful.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead a gang carrying out LOC suite construction.
- Oversee route works and associated railway civils activities.
- Supervise ancillary works related to civils on site.

Outside IR35
We require an experienced Civils Team Leader to lead a gang carrying out:
- LOC suite construction
- Route works
- Associated railway civils and ancillary works
- Valid PTS
- COSS
- Civils Certificate of Competency/ATW
- Emergency First Aid
- Manual Handling
- Small Tools
- Full UK driving licence
- Previous experience leading railway civils gangs
- Proven experience with LOC suites and route works
Additional competencies such as Track Trolley, Stihl Saw, Wacker Plate, RD4000 and Abrasive Wheels would be advantageous.
An in-person induction will take place in Crewe at 07:00 on Monday 5 October.
