Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join a children's residential home in Chipping, near Preston, supporting children and young people aged 8 to 18 with emotional and behavioural needs.

You will coordinate shifts, lead the care team, and ensure safeguarding and care planning procedures are followed. The role is full-time with a 2 days on, 4 days off pattern and a salary of £15.25 per hour plus £54 per sleep-in, with opportunities for progression.

Team Leader | Children's Residential

Location: Chipping, Preston

Salary: £15.25 per hour + £54 per sleep in

Hours: Full-time
Shift Pattern: 2 days on, 4 days off
Shift Times: Shifts start at 8:00am and run for 48 hours, including sleep-ins, followed by a 15-minute handover.

Please note: We do not hold licences to support overseas candidates. You must have experience working with children or young people within residential care, social care, education, youth work or a comparable setting.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to join a children's residential home located in Chipping, near Preston, supporting children and young people aged 8 to 18 with emotional and behavioural needs.

This role is suitable for candidates commuting from Chipping, Preston, Longridge, Clitheroe, Garstang, Blackburn and surrounding areas.

As an experienced Team Leader, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and effective day to day running of the home, while providing child centred care and leading, guiding and supporting the wider residential care team. You will coordinate shifts, allocate duties and ensure staff are deployed effectively according to the needs and risks of the children. You will also support staff to follow individual care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and behaviour support strategies.

Requirements

• Caring approach and ability to build positive relationships with children and young people
• Experience working with children or young people in residential care, social care, education, youth work or a similar setting
• Ability to lead and support staff, make decisions and manage shifts effectively
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, behaviour support and care planning
• Good communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and elevate concerns appropriately
• QCF Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to achieve this within the required timescales
• Full UK driving licence, as driving is required by the service
• Experience mentoring or supporting staff is desirable
• Full UK driving licence, as driving is required by the service
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK without sponsorship
