Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality personal care to each of our residents.
  • Help the residents with daily activities including bathing, toileting, dressing and undressing, ensuring independence, dignity and respect.
  • Encourage those who may have difficulty eating or swallowing to enjoy their meals with dignity.
  • Assist people with restricted mobility to move to social areas and to bedrooms on request.
  • Attend to residents with reduced continence, manage hygiene needs, and change pads.
  • Trained in medication administration and management.
  • Supervise a team of 3 or 4 Care Assistants and assist in their training; oversee wellbeing meetings for the team.
  • Carry out care activities per care plan, focusing on turning and moving to reduce pressure sores risk.
  • Keep bedrooms tidy and comfortable; change bed linen and manage waste facilities.
  • Regularly clean equipment involved in personal care (commodes, wheelchairs).
  • Practice safe working methods including moving and handling; assess risks and ensure safety.
  • Understand health and safety responsibilities at work, including moving and handling and fire safety.
  • Be courteous to residents and visitors, upholding dignity and being At home.
  • Contribute to the team and record interactions on the personal care software.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and arrange maintenance as needed.
  • Store supplies and equipment safely.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Develop relationships with relatives to support residents.

The successful app l icant will:

  • Deliver quality personal care to each of our residents .
  • Help the residents with daily activities including, bathing, taking people to the toilet, dressing and undressing, and ensuring optimum independence, dignity, and respect of all individuals who live here.
  • Encourage those that may have difficulty eating or swallowing, to enjoy their meal in a relaxed pleasant atmosphere, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Assist people with restricted mobility to move to other areas of the Home for social activities and stimulation and to the privacy of their bedrooms at their request.
  • Regularly attend to any of the people who may have reduced continence control, ensuring all personal hygiene needs are met. Toileting, changing continence pads, and removing wet or soiled clothing to ensure they remain comfortable and the risk of skin deterioration is reduced and monitored.
  • Trained in medication administration and management.
  • Be responsible for supervising a team of 3 or 4 Care Assistants and assist in their training. The Team Leader will also be responsible for doing the we l lbeing (and supervision) meeting s for their team.
  • Carry out care activity in accordance with the care plan for less active people, particularly turning and moving to reduce the risk of development of pressure sores, as requested by the person in charge.
  • Ensure bedroom areas are kept tidy, pleasant and comfortable by making beds, regularly changing bed linen and emptying commodes and cleaning.
  • Be responsible for the regular cleaning of any equipment involved in the personal care of people the residents, including commodes and wheelchairs.
  • Practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particular moving and handling, by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of people who live here, visitors, and your colleagues.
  • Understand personal responsibilities with regards to Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling of people who live here and fire safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Act courteously towards the residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each person and ensuring they feel ‘At home’.
  • Contribute fully to the team, responding positively to colleagues and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly, and record interactions on the personal care software.
  • Take good care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on any faults or the need for maintenance or replacement.
  • Be responsible for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • Develop relationships with relatives to help support residents better.
