WWL 0-19 Universal Children's Services has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. This is a fantastic opportunity for a SCPHN qualified Health Visitor or School Nurse with substantial post-qualification experience to join our leadership team and support operational and clinical leadership. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, organized, and dedicated public health nurse to help lead our 0-19 integrated teams in delivering high-quality services to families, children, and young people in our care.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other team leaders and partner agencies to lead and implement new processes and pathways, fostering innovation and supporting children and families in new ways. Our team leaders are currently piloting co-production working; this role will involve working across the operational and clinical leadership teams.

This is a full-time position - 37.5 hours per week, working flexibly from Monday to Friday.

An Enhanced DBS check, including Children's and Adults' Barred List checks, will be obtained during pre-employment screening.

Main duties of the job

The applicant should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work effectively and autonomously. They will need to motivate, educate, and promote the team across the integrated skill mix 0-19 team in Wigan, as well as collaborate with wider stakeholders, children, parents, and carers.

As a Team Leader with operational and/or clinical responsibilities, you will support the Healthy Child Programme and the senior management team.

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work within the 0-19 Leadership team to assess clinical and quality needs and deliver core services.
• Utilize management skills to handle unpredictable situations; attend management meetings, write reports, conduct risk assessments, engage in clinical quality projects, and develop services.
• Lead, motivate, empower, and manage staff to identify and implement quality and service improvements.
• Provide professional advice to staff and families within clinical settings, assessing and interpreting complex client conditions using appropriate tools.
• Ensure targets are set, monitored, and achieved, with services evaluated against best practices.
• Lead the 0-19 teams in daily work with children, young people, and families, ensuring work contributes to improved outcomes.
• Support practice development, ensuring evidence-based practice meets quality standards.
• Collaborate with the Operational and Performance Manager and Quality Lead to develop pathways of integrated working with partner agencies.
• Promote an equal opportunity framework to develop ethical and culturally sensitive services.

Staff Management:

• Ensure staff adherence to WWL policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory training requirements.
• Responsible for staff recruitment.

• Respond to complex, sensitive, or contentious information, including complaints.
• Contribute to staff induction and coordination.
• Deliver training and educational sessions for staff.

• Attend multi-agency and partner meetings representing the 0-19 Universal Services.

Quality Improvement:

• Facilitate the implementation of NICE guidelines and evidence-based care within the 0-19 team.
• Identify support and development needs of team members and put supportive measures in place.
• Identify practice areas needing improvement, escalate, and collaborate on improvement measures.
• Manage incidents, ensuring timely recording and follow-up.
• Identify and escalate risks to the appropriate management team.
