Job summary

Metro Supply Chain UK is hiring a Team Leader for our Thetford site. The role combines hands-on warehouse work with team leadership to ensure excellent service to clients.

Candidates with MHE licences (Bendi, Counterbalance and PPT) or a willingness to cross-train will be preferred. You will organise daily workloads, coach colleagues and uphold health and safety standards on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse environment.
• MHE experience with Bendi, Counterbalance and PPT licences or willingness to refresh/cross-train.
• Experience mentoring or coordinating colleagues on shift.
• Good understanding of warehouse health & safety requirements.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive approach with the confidence to solve problems on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Operate MHE, including Bendi, Counterbalance and PPT, to support daily warehouse operations.
• Carry out core warehouse activities such as goods intake, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, labelling and despatch.
• Act as a senior presence on the shop floor, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
• Help organise daily workloads and ensure resources are in place to meet operational requirements.
• Monitor productivity and accuracy to ensure customer service standards are achieved.
• Support stock accuracy through effective inventory control and operational discipline.
• Promote a positive safety culture by ensuring colleagues follow site procedures and safe working practices.
• Complete daily MHE checks and maintain high standards of housekeeping across the warehouse.
• Support the training and development of team members and help to motivate colleagues to perform at their best.
• Assist Supervisors and Managers with day‑to‑day operational challenges and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide Supervisor/Manager cover when required

JOB SUMMARY

We have a new Team Leader role within our Thetford site! This important role supports our team there to ensure we deliver the best service possible to our clients.

This is a good fit for someone who is able to roll their sleeves up and get involved in the physical tasks within the warehouse, while also taking team leadership tasks. Candidates with a Bendi licence (or experience) would be preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in a warehouse environment.

MHE experience, ideally including Bendi, Counterbalance and PPT licences (or the willingness to refresh/cross-train).

Experience supporting, mentoring or coordinating colleagues on shift.

A good understanding of warehouse health & safety requirements.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.

Good attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.

A proactive approach with the confidence to solve problems and make decisions on the shop floor.
