Job summary

Simpson Millar is seeking a Team Leader to join our Multi Track EL/PL team. The role involves leading the team to deliver high-quality legal services and achieve financial targets, with the opportunity to handle a small personal caseload.

You will report to the Head of Department and conduct 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and case reviews to ensure adherence to processes and KPIs. A hybrid working pattern is offered with offices across the country.

Qualifications

• Must be a Grade A Solicitor qualified in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
• Experience managing an EL/PL caseload.
• Demonstrated leadership/management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting own advocacy.
• Strong business development skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day leadership of the EL/PL team and provide technical support on EL/PL claims.
• Track the team's performance and ensure KPIs are met/exceeded.
• Develop and manage a small EL/PL caseload (~25% of hours).
• Develop local business to secure referrals and grow the department.
• Participate in development, marketing, and success of the department.

Job description

We'er looking for a Team Leader to join our Multi Track EL PL team. The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring their team delivers high-quality legal services to clients and achieves its financial targets consistently. This will be done through the effective management of resources across the team, being a technical expert supporting, guiding and developing all team members to enhance their performance.

Under the supervision of the Head of Department, you will drive excellence: conducting 1-2-1's, performance and case reviews, to ensure that all cases are managed to agreed processes, and that key performance indicators are being met and/or exceeded by all team members.

The role will also have a small case load of its own (approximately 25% of your working hours).

Key Responsibilities

• Day to day leadership of the team and providing technical support on EL & PL claims
• Tracking the teams performance
• Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements through file reviews and technical clinics, managing conflicts of interest, and addressing ethical issues as they arise.
• Assisting with the professional development of team members
• Develop and manage a small caseload of Employers Liability and Public Liability (EL/PL) matters.
• Effectively and efficiently conduct cases on behalf of clients in accordance with the overall policies and objectives of the firm
• Develop local business to secure referrals
• Participate in the development, marketing, and success of the department

Key Requirements

• Must be a grade A Solicitor qualified in England and Wales and hold a current practising certificate.
• Have demonstrated experience in managing an EL/PL caseload
• Demonstrated leadership/management skills
• Demonstrated experience in in conducting own advocacy
• Strong business development skills

We are looking for the right person to join our team, as such the successful candidate can be based in any of our offices: Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, Cardiff or London.
