Team Lead – Warehouse

DSV is recruiting for a Team Lead at Brackmills.
This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function.
- Supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of operators and ensuring an efficient warehouse operation in achieving business targets.
- Provide line management to the team, coordinating workloads, supporting team members, monitoring issues, and ensuring production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met to satisfy customer requirements.
- Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support needs to achieve high standards, fostering a culture of safety.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation to fulfill operational and customer demands and meet targets.
- Train new Warehouse operatives within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure inventory accuracy in the area of responsibility.
- Ensure stock movements are recorded accurately.
- Support organizing and participate in stock takes at regular intervals.
- Ensure that computerized or automated systems are accurate and up to date.
- Identify system improvements and make recommendations for change.
- Resolve warehouse issues or problems where possible.
- Produce regular reports and statistics as required.
- Assist in planning future capacity requirements.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met.
- Ensure manual handling procedures are followed during lifting and maneuvering of products.
- Maintain vehicles, machinery, and equipment in good condition.
- Maintain high security standards in the warehouse.
- Keep the working environment clean and tidy to support operational efficiency.
- Act up for management to cover leave and absence when required.
People Management
- Manage time and attendance, support with personnel issues.
- Communicate priorities, targets, and requirements to staff.
- Report progress, achievements, and concerns to supervisors or managers.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies as needed.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Engage with team members and contribute to team development.
- Demonstrate integrity, openness, and honesty.
- Participate in grievance and disciplinary procedures.
- Monitor performance and absence, conduct welfare meetings.
Experience
- Proven leadership skills in supervising and motivating teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, especially spreadsheets, databases, and warehouse systems.
- Analytical and numerate abilities.
- Understanding of customer deliverables and quality impact.
- Good planning skills to meet targets and deadlines.
Skills and Competencies
- GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2; warehousing qualification advantageous.
- Certified in Dangerous Goods Handling; supervisory qualification beneficial.
- Experience as a Warehouse Team Leader.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements.
- Knowledge of lean techniques advantageous.
- Fork Lift Truck license may be required.
