Cooper Lomaz Recruitment Services Ltd is seeking a Lead Multiskilled Engineer to maintain site reliability, safety and efficiency. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and continuous improvement of equipment performance.

The candidate will work in a collaborative engineering team, applying mechanical and electrical skills across a range of production and site services, including boilers and process systems.

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical and/or mechanical engineering qualification required.
  • Experience with both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC systems.
  • Proficient with CMMS and recording maintenance activities.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Responding quickly to breakdowns and diagnosing faults.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Carrying out fault-finding and repairs across production/site equipment.
  • Supporting maintenance of boilers, water systems and fabrication equipment.
  • Working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and reducing costs.
  • Accurately recording maintenance activities using CMMS.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth site operations.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and following health and safety procedures.

Job description

Lead Multiskilled Engineer, hands-on role where you will play a key part in keeping our site running safely, efficiently and reliably. You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.

Working as part of a collaborative Engineering team, you will use your mechanical and electrical skills to maintain a wide range of equipment and site services.

Working Hours

The role operates on a rotating two-week shift pattern, averaging 40 hours per week:

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • Week 2: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm
  • Weekend working: 1 weekend per month as part of the rotating shift pattern.
  • Flexibility is required to support the needs of the site and ensure effective engineering cover.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Responding quickly and effectively to breakdowns and equipment faults.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Carrying out fault-finding and repairs across a range of production and site equipment.
  • Supporting the maintenance of site services, including boilers, water systems, cooling systems and fabrication equipment.
  • Working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Supporting and fault-finding on PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing solutions to improve efficiency, reliability and reduce costs.
  • Accurately recording maintenance activities, repairs and parts used using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Working closely with colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and following all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Supporting engineering projects and other maintenance activities as required.
What We're Looking For
  • We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and confident working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • You will ideally have:
    • Strong experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role.
    • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong mechanical engineering skills with a good understanding of electrical systems
    • Good working knowledge of:
      • Pneumatics
      • Hydraulics
      • PLC systems
  • Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Good understanding of egineering principles and maintenance practices.
  • Confidence using computers and maintenance management software/CMMS.
  • The ability to work independently, manage priorities and respond effectively to breakdowns.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work the required rotating shift pattern, including one weekend per month.
Qualifications
  • A recognised Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification is required, such as:
    • NVQ
    • City & Guilds
    • Apprenticeship
    • Or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification
