Job summary

Burnley College is seeking a Teaching & Learning Mentor to drive the implementation and impact of teaching and learning across the College. You will work with senior leaders to deliver high quality classroom support and coordinate College-wide quality assurance activities.

The role requires a degree or equivalent, a recognised teaching qualification, and ongoing professional development. An understanding of Ofsted toolkit and curriculum breadth across 14-19, apprenticeships and university

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in an area relevant to Curriculum.
  • A Recognised teaching qualification and Relevant on-going professional learning and development.
  • Good understanding of Ofsted Inspection Toolkit and academic knowledge of 14-19, apprenticeships, adult and university education curriculum would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

  • Coordinate and quality assure cross-college quality of education activities such as Learning Walks and Lesson Visits.
  • Track, monitor and report on teaching and learning quality, outcomes and areas for improvement, and provide targeted professional development.

Job description

We are recruiting a Teaching & Learning Mentor to effectively drive and lead the implementation and impact across College of teaching and learning to ensure high quality and consistency of learner experience across all provision types in line with the College's Learning & Teaching Strategy and relevant policies. Your responsibilities will include, working closely with the Head of teaching and Learning, Head of Quality and Head of Quality Enhancement to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and classroom support across the whole organisation. Coordinate and quality assure cross college quality of education activities, including Learning Walks, Lesson Visits and associated training. To track, monitor and review quality of teaching and learning and report on current practice, outcomes, key themes, areas of best practice and areas requiring improvement, and provide targeted professional development against the college's Teaching Standards, including inclusive and adaptive teaching, curriculum planning and sequencing, recap and retrieval, assessment and feedback, progress monitoring and the effective deployment of classroom support staff. The successful candidate will have Degree or equivalent level qualification in an area relevant to Curriculum, A Recognised teaching qualification and Relevant on-going professional learning and development. A Good Understanding of Ofsted Inspection Toolkit and Academic knowledge of 14-19, apprenticeships, adult and university education curriculum would be an advantage, but isn't essential. The salary for this post is £40,665. Burnley College Sixth Form Centre provides first-class Further Education, University Education, Apprenticeship, business training and adult learning programmes, in the heart of Pennine Lancashire.
