About the role
Within our School of Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy, we are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Criminology to support our wide range of programmes. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across our BSc Criminology and BSc Criminology with Forensic Psychology courses, and will contribute to the development and delivery of modules within our wider undergraduate and postgraduate sociology programmes.
In this teaching-focused role, you will prepare and deliver learning activities, supervise student projects, assess coursework, and provide constructive feedback to support student development. You will collaborate with colleagues to review and update the curriculum, ensure alignment with current research and sector developments, and enhance the student experience through innovative teaching practices, including digital technologies. You will also undertake administrative tasks related to teaching, support student welfare, and engage in scholarship that informs your practice and contributes to continuous improvement of our educational offerings.
About you
You will hold a PhD in Criminology or a related discipline (or possess equivalent professional experience) and have a strong grounding in criminology and forensic psychology themes. You should have previous experience teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, demonstrating the ability to support high-quality learning and provide effective feedback. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential for delivering engaging and accessible learning experiences both in-person and online.
A flexible team player, you will be committed to innovative teaching and supporting students to reach their full potential. Experience in developing and delivering modules related to criminology and forensic psychology is advantageous, as is a relevant teaching qualification or a commitment to achieving Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
