2 x Teaching Fellow Positions (2 years fixed term contract) starting September 2025.

An opportunity has arisen to join our teaching and learning team in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Warwick. This opportunity has arisen due to increasing student numbers with over 1100 undergraduate students across the four years of our undergraduate programmes (BSc and MMath).

As Teaching Fellow, you will have a leading involvement in delivering support classes and tutorials, and grading assignments for undergraduate students. You will also contribute to a range of other teaching and learning activities, possibly including personal tutoring, outreach and open days. Up to 20% of your time will be allocated to personal professional development, for example to pursue a research programme in Mathematics or for ongoing professional development of your pedagogical skills and knowledge.

About You

Successful candidates will have a PhD in mathematics, and experience of teaching small groups.

You will have a sound understanding of Mathematics at first- and second-year University level. You will be enthusiastic and committed to delivering a high-quality learning experience.

You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, aiding in the delivery and development of a busy teaching programme at Warwick. You will have good planning, time management and communication skills, and able to engage with students during their learning experience in order to facilitate effective learning.

For one of the positions preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate advanced knowledge of Python.

For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.

About The Department

The department is internationally recognised for its research and our best undergraduates are a match for those at any other UK university. Our historical strengths in pure mathematics are now complemented by increasingly broad coverage of applied subjects. We run a wide range of weekly seminar series, and many workshops and conferences, for which our Mathematics Research Centre provides organisational support.

A list of our staff and their research interests can be found at https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/maths/research/researchers and you can see our undergraduate module pages at https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/maths/currentstudents/ughandbook

The department encourages the career advancement and promotion of all its staff, supporting promotion from Associate Professor to Reader and subsequently Full Professor in the same way that Assistant Professors are guided through the probationary process.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment, and we actively encourage applications from groups that are under-represented in UK mathematics. In particular, we are working hard towards improving our gender balance: we currently hold a Bronze Athena Swan award and our energetic Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion committee plays a significant role in shaping departmental policy.

We are an internationally diverse department. For those eligible, the University offers relocation and Immigration Support Scheme packages to assist with costs of relocating and any associated visa applications and HIS (health) surcharge fees.

About The University

Born in the 60s with a mindset of boldness, imagination and collaboration, the University of Warwick is a world-leading research-intensive university with the highest academic and research standards.
