A lovely specialist school in Blackburn is looking for full-time teaching assistants to work with children or young people from 4-19 years. The school provides an inclusive education for students with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, autism and severe learning disabilities. This role would be well suited to those coming from a care background, due to the SEND requirements and needs of the children. Ideally you will have prior experience working with children or young adults, though this is not essential. This role would involve working predominantly with autism, though the pupils may also have other SEND needs, such as ADHD, GDD, ODD or speech and language needs. Some pupils can also exhibit challenging behaviour on occasion. As a school care assistant you must be open to supporting with personal care and swimming. You may be required to work across several age groups so flexibility is essential. The school is looking for new school care assistants to begin in September 2025. The school will consider permanent contracts for staff who succeed in their role.
