Job summary

St. Andrew's Primary School is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join our school team.

You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment. Working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, you will support learning in the classroom and small-group settings, assist with planning cycles and resources, promote positive behaviour and pupil independence, and supervise breaks and

Qualifications

  • Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to relate well to both children and adults.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with SEND.
  • Implementing literacy and numeracy interventions.
  • Assisting with planning cycles and preparing learning resources.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence.
  • You will also supervise breaks/lunchtimes and accompany pupils on trips when required.
