Job summary

Hays Education is recruiting Teaching Assistants for September 2026 in Small Heath (B10) and surrounding Birmingham areas. Opportunities are available across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, with flexible full-time or part-time arrangements to suit local schools.

Typical duties include supporting learning in small groups, one-to-one support, and helping create an inclusive classroom. Successful candidates will have TA qualifications preferred and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Have experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or youth work setting.
  • Are passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Are reliable, proactive and adaptable.
  • Hold a TA qualification (Level 2/3, CACHE, NVQ or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom.

Hays Education are working with a number of welcoming primary schools in the Small Heath and B10 area who are looking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their teams from September 2026.Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant or have transferable experience supporting children and young people, I'd love to hear from you.

Your new role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
  • Working with small groups to reinforce learning
  • Providing one-to-one support where needed
  • Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence and independence
  • Assisting with classroom preparation and daily routines

Roles are available on both a full-time and part-time basis, with opportunities for long-term and permanent positions.
