Job description

Are you looking for a role that provides the opportunity to support others while offering evenings and weekends off?

Do you have a keen interest in psychology and mental health?

Would you like to gain qualifications and promotions while working?

Join a dedicated team that supports and helps you progress in your career! This outstanding school supports pupils with an Autism diagnosis. You would join an expert team committed to providing the best educational, care, and transition pathways for children and young people aged 4-19 years.

The staff deliver an individualised curriculum focused on promoting effective learning, developing new learning methods, and fostering independence. They aim to ensure the best outcomes, enabling pupils to reach their full potential both at school and at home.

The team seeks positive, resilient, and caring individuals. Children are taught in large, bright classrooms, with 1:1 tuition in a calm, safe environment. Joining this team offers extensive training and development opportunities to advance your career.

If you have a positive attitude, patience, and resilience, this role could be ideal for you!

This school offers a range of benefits:

  • £1000 bonus upon joining to help you transition into the role
  • Part-time options available (3 or 4 days)
  • Regular salary progression based on training completion
  • Unique career progression in an unqualified route—opportunities to become a Lead Teacher or Class Supervisor without QTS
  • Fully funded training and personal development based on behaviour analysis principles
  • Chance to work with different age groups and abilities
  • 44 days holiday
  • Term-time only, evenings, or weekends
  • Free onsite parking
  • Dedicated support from an experienced consultant during the application process
  • Transport provided from Guildford if needed

Your role will include:

  • Providing teaching and support to pupils with autism, following individualised curricula
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons, mainly focusing on life skills
  • Supporting pupils' participation in trips and applying theory to practice
  • Providing behaviour support to improve quality of life
  • Assisting with personal care and encouraging hygiene (toileting, feeding)
  • Monitoring pupil progress to ensure effective teaching
  • Supporting breaktime activities, including playground and snack support

Skills and capabilities required:

  • Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Experience working with children and disabilities, professionally, personally, or voluntarily
  • Comfort working with children exhibiting challenging behaviour
  • Willingness to support personal and intimate care when needed
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Own transportation is desirable due to location
