Job summary

Positive Futures Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Teaching Assistant SEMH at a specialist school in Berkeley. The role is permanent and full-time (term-time), with a salary of £22,996–£25,068 and a £1,500 welcome bonus, dependent on experience and qualifications.

You will support students aged 11–16 with SEMH, assisting learning, wellbeing and personal development. Expect to build trusting relationships, maintain safeguarding, and work with the Class Teacher to deliver a safe, engaging learning

Qualifications

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English is essential.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Genuine desire to support young people and build trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Build warm, supportive and trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and ready to learn.
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Support the delivery of a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher in all aspects of daily classroom practice.
  • Respond flexibly to the changing needs of the school.
  • Support pupils cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical development.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi professional team.
  • Complete documentation accurately (incidents, behaviour, health records) under guidance.

A specialist school for young people aged 1116 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school blends the best elements of mainstream and specialist education to create a nurturing, aspirational environment where students can thrive, build independence and prepare for life beyond school.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with their learning, wellbeing and personal development, ensuring each young person has the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Youll help create a safe, structured and engaging environment, adapting your approach to meet individual needs and supporting positive behaviour throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
