Job summary

AMA Admin is assisting a Gateshead secondary school to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant. The role focuses on supporting pupils' learning, behaviour, and wellbeing in a nurturing classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within a UK Secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the UK Secondary curriculum.
  • Experience supporting children with a range of abilities and needs (including SEND is desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting learning.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality support to the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to support pupils' learning.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour policy.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
  • Assist with the preparation of classroom materials and learning environments.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

Teaching Assistant - Secondary School (Gateshead)

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time (Term-Time Only)

Salary: £450 - £550 per week

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive Secondary school in Gateshead. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual who is committed to supporting children's learning and development within a nurturing and engaging classroom environment.

Working closely with class teachers and senior staff, you will play a key role in helping pupils achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
