- Contribute to college development through team planning and review meetings.
- To participate in the college’s performance management scheme.
Participation in extra-curricular activities is voluntary but all staff members are encouraged to participate lead and promote activities to build good relationships with young people and broaden their informal learning opportunities.
All staff are expected to be familiar with and adhere to all Sixth Form policies and, in particular, meet key requirements in relation to health and safety and teaching and learning.

Main duties and responsibilities:
- • Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, transferring, repositioning, and supporting students using appropriate techniques and equipment (e.g., hoists, slings, standing frames).
- • Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, dressing, and feeding, while maintaining dignity and respect.
- • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals (e.g., physiotherapists, occupational therapists) to implement individual education and care plans.
- • Monitor and record student progress and report concerns to the appropriate staff.
- • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- • Attend relevant training, including manual handling, safeguarding, and first aid.
- • To observe and feed back to the teacher on pupil performance and behaviour, taking action as appropriate in line with relevant school policies.
- • To be part of tutor time and Extracurricular programmes.
- • To provide supervision in the Learning Development Department as required.
- • To assist in the preparation and differentiation of materials, e.g. enlarging text, photocopying.
- • To assist with SEN record keeping, the writing of Student Passports, testing of students and with the maintenance of the school SEN record.
- • To assist in real emergencies, should the teacher have to leave the classroom.
- • To help to safeguard students’ health and safety, particularly in the context of practical classes.
- • To participate in school SEN meetings either in or out of College hours, as required.
- • To participate in training as appropriate.
- • To participate in Statement Review meetings and work experience visits, as required.
- • To assist in the preparation for, and invigilation of examinations.
- • To help to promote the general progress and wellbeing of students with SEND. Working either within the class, small groups or one to one.
- • To provide direct practical support for the integration of individual students with physical disabilities in practical classes to ensure their full engagement in all aspects of college life.
- • To provide support for the integration of statemented students in curriculum classes.
- • To assist class teachers who are teaching groups which include students with SEND.
- • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans.
- • Assist students with physical disabilities in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
