Five Education are seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils in schools around Shipham near Cheddar, with a focus on autism. Job description

Five Education are looking for a caring and reliable Teaching Assistant to support pupils in schools in the Shipham area near Cheddar, with a particular focus on supporting children with autism. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, understanding, and confident in supporting pupils with additional needs within the classroom. The school has great facilities and friendly, supportive staff.

The role includes:

• Supporting pupils with autism, either 1:1 or in small groups
• Helping pupils engage with learning activities and daily routines
• Encouraging communication, independence, and positive behaviour
• Working closely with teachers and other support staff

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children with autism (professional or personal)
• Is calm, patient, and nurturing
• Can adapt to individual needs and structured routines
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and child welfare

Experience in a school or SEND setting is preferred, but a positive attitude and the right approach are essential.

Essential requirements:

• Right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer Sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas.
• Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
• Able to drive.
• Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
• Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer's NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
