Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Teaching Assistant at Ridgewood Community High School in Burnley. The role involves planning and implementing learning activities for individuals and groups under supervision, monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher. It also covers short-term class cover when the teacher is unavailable.

Working days are TERM TIME ONLY (plus 5 INSET days). The salary is pro-rata of the full-time equivalent, with a closing date of 01/10/2026.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
• Level 2 English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy qualification or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term cover for classes as the Teaching Assistant when the class teacher is unavailable.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and establish supportive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
• Support children with medical conditions and complex needs as required.
