Level 2 Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne - Tameside - Manchester
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £19,664 - £21,630 (pro rata) + £1,491 SEN Allowance
Contract: Permanent, Term-Time Only (TTO + 5 days)
Hours: 34 hours per week


Aspire People is working in partnership with a specialist secondary SEN provision in Ashton-under-Lyne to recruit an experienced and dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic team making a real difference in the lives of young people aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs.

About the Role:

This school provides a high-quality, tailored education for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and severe learning needs. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the setting is committed to supporting both their academic progress and personal development in a nurturing, structured environment.

You'll work closely with teaching staff to deliver high-impact support to students, helping them engage in their learning, manage their behaviour, and develop important life skills. The school has been recognised for excellence and continues to strive for the best outcomes for every learner.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support teaching and learning for pupils with a range of complex needs

- Assist with monitoring student progress and providing feedback

- Work closely with teachers to plan differentiated support strategies

- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation

- Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment

- Support pupils both in and out of the classroom

- Engage with families, professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach to learning


Requirements:

- Experience supporting young people with SEND, particularly in an educational setting

- A nurturing and empathetic approach to managing behaviour

- Resilience and a non-judgemental attitude

- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and use initiative

- Commitment to ongoing professional development

Offer:

- NJC scale points 5-11 (£24,790 - £27,269 FTE)

- Pro rata salary of £19,664 - £21,630

- Additional SEN allowance of £1,491 per annum

- A permanent position starting in September 2025

- Full safeguarding and pre-employment checks will be required
