Airfield Primary Academy in Weston-super-Mare is recruiting four Teaching Assistant Level 2 posts to support Nursery and Preschool. 32.5 hours per week, all year round, permanent contract, with the start date of 4 January 2027 pending checks.

Qualifications

  • Early Years Educator/Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification and good literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience in Early Years with understanding of children’s learning and barriers.
  • Ability to build positive relationships one-to-one and in groups.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills; experience producing learning materials.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and managing SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Support the educational, personal and social development of children under guidance of teachers.
  • Work with children one-to-one and in groups to meet developmental milestones.
  • Observe, assess and record progress; identify where additional support is needed.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistants (Level 2) who are highly committed about supporting young children to learn and enjoy their education. We have 4 vacancies for this Early Years role, which will work across Nursery (2-3 year old provision) and Preschool (3-4 year old provision).Airfield Primary Academy is a new and growing school serving the Haywood Village community in Weston-super-Mare. Having welcomed our first Reception children in September 2026, we are continuing to develop our Early Years provision, including our nursery and preschool. This provides a fantastic opportunity to join us at an exciting stage in the academy’s journey and play a part in creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child is supported to thrive.As an Early Years Teaching Assistant Level 2, you will support the educational, personal and social development of children under the direction and guidance of teachers and other colleagues. Working with children on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, you will use your Early Years knowledge and experience to support children in reaching developmental milestones, engaging positively with their learning and achieving their individual goals.You will contribute to the observation, assessment and recording of children’s progress, help identify where additional support or intervention may be needed, and adapt your approach to respond to individual needs.
