York High School’s Inclusion Team is seeking a Teaching Assistant to make a direct impact on our students' learning journey. The role focuses on supporting struggling readers through targeted interventions, working with individuals and small groups to remove barriers to the curriculum.

You will need GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent), and experience of working with children or young people. A Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable.

This is an opportunity for a skilled individual to work as a Teaching Assistant in a key post that contributes directly to the care of young people at the school. Your role will be focused upon supporting struggling readers through targeted interventions, which will in turn remove barriers allowing them to unlock the curriculum. This highly rewarding role will include both working with individual students as well as small groups.

You will have GCSE English and maths qualifications at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications, and experience of working with children or young people. You will have good communication skills with the ability to build appropriate relationships with a range of staff, students and their families. A level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning and/or further qualifications are desirable.
