Job summary

Parkside School invites applications for a Teaching Assistant who will work closely with teachers and The SEND Hub to help pupils access the curriculum and build independence. The role includes coaching a small group, supporting social and personal care needs, and contributing to an inclusive learning environment.

The post is term time only (+5 days), 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, offering the chance to develop professionally within a caring school community that is part of Wellspring

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (English and Maths) or equivalent.
  • Experience working directly with young people.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Collaborative, professional team player with high expectations.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS check and training.
  • Commitment to personal development and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

  • Support students individually or in small groups to access the curriculum.
  • Deliver SEN interventions and differentiate learning activities.
  • Use IT to support learning and provide feedback on progress.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents or carers and other professionals.
  • Provide supervision, coaching for a small group, and administrative support as needed.
  • Uphold safeguarding and GDPR standards across the school.

Join Our Team at Parkside School!

Are you passionate, dedicated and proactive, looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive school environment? Parkside School is seeking a committed colleague to join our team in the role of Teaching Assistant.

In this rewarding role, you will work closely with subject teachers and The SEND Hub team to add value within and beyond the classroom. You will support students individually or in small groups to help them access the curriculum, build independence and achieve their full potential. You will also play a key role in supporting students’ social, emotional and personal care needs, ensuring an inclusive and nurturing environment for all.

Additionally, you will serve as a Coach for a small group of students, guiding them in their personal and academic growth.

Please note this is a term time only (+ 5 days) position, working 32.5 hours, Mon-Fri per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supporting Students: Build positive relationships, promote high self esteem, adapt communication styles, and support social or emotional needs. Assist with My Support Plans, EHCP outcomes, risk assessments, personal care or hygiene, and student safety.

  • Teaching and Learning Support: Assist teachers with differentiated learning activities, deliver SEN interventions, use IT to support learning, and help maintain classroom discipline. Provide progress feedback and support exam access arrangements.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain positive relationships with parents or carers, share insights with external health or social care professionals, and collaborate effectively across the school team.

  • Whole School Duties: Act as a Coach for a small group of students, provide administrative support as needed, and supervise students during break, lunch, and before or after school.

  • Professional Development and Safeguarding: Engage in continuous training such as first aid or moving and handling, participate in appraisals, and strictly uphold child protection, GDPR, and safeguarding standards.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualifications: Good standard of education with GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.

  • Experience: Experience of working directly with young people.

  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge and clear understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines.

  • Skills and Ethos: A holistic approach to student wellbeing, alongside the ability to challenge, engage, and set high expectations for all learners.

  • Personal Attributes: A collaborative, inspiring, and creative team player who is committed to personal development, demonstrates high levels of professionalism, and builds strong working relationships.

  • Checks and Training: Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and actively participate in all essential role training.
