Job summary

Egerton Community Primary School is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant with a Special Needs Allowance to join our inclusive team. The successful candidate will support pupils with SEN under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCO in KS1 and KS2.

The role is fixed-term to 31 August 2027 and pro‑rata to 18 hours per week, with a SNA allowance and a pro-rata salary. We value patience, empathy and collaboration with staff, parents and carers.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 or equivalent in teaching assistance is required or anticipated.
• Willingness to work toward NVQ2 within an agreed timeframe.
• Experience or qualification related to SEND preferred, especially with emotional school-based avoidance and autism.

Responsibilities

• Support individual pupils with EHCPs across KS1 and KS2 under guidance of the class teacher and SENDCO.
• Contribute to an inclusive, high‑quality learning environment.
• Be flexible in adapting the curriculum to meet pupils' needs and support school priorities.

Contract Type: Fixed Term to 31 August 2027
Salary Grade: Grade D TA2 Scale 6-11 (£25,183 to £27,269) pro-rata to 18 hours with SNA allowance (Actual Salary £10,668 - £11,552 per annum)
Working Pattern: Term time + 2 days
Hours: 9am-3:30pm Wednesday to Friday – 18 hours per week
Closing date: Friday 28 August 2026

We have an exciting opportunity for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant with a special needs allowance to join our innovative and creative team. The successful candidate will be patient, empathetic, caring and have experience and/or qualifications within the area of SEND, especially with emotional school-based avoidance and Autism. Our primary school is entry level and prides itself on inclusivity, consistently striving for high standards for all children by adapting the curriculum and provision to meet the needs of all learners.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCO, the successful candidate will support individual pupils with EHCPs who have a recognised special educational need in KS1 and KS2. While this position is for a short fixed period, there may be opportunity to extend this further.
