Job summary

Atherton High School invites applications for a hardworking, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. The role is term-time, 39 weeks per year, with a pro rata salary of £22,857 to £24,751 per annum.

We welcome candidates who are flexible, motivated and able to support pupils to progress, promoting inclusion and helping with behaviour, communication and social skills in a school setting.

Qualifications

  • Promoting good pupil behaviour and dealing with conflicts in line with school policies.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at level 9–5.
  • Child Care/NVQ or other education-related qualification at level 2.
  • Experience of support work with children in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Work under guidance of teaching staff to implement planning and assessment with individuals or small groups.
  • Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, developing communication, behaviour, independence and social skills.
  • Provide supervision and guidance during non-lesson-based activities.
  • Provide feedback to pupils on progress under teacher guidance.
  • Promote good pupil behaviour and address conflicts per school policies.

The Job:

Atherton High School wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. If you are experienced, enthusiastic, open to new ideas and have a flexible ‘can do’ approach, we would welcome an application from you. The role is term time working 39 weeks per year. The pro rata salary is £22,857 to £24,751 per annum.

What does this job do?
  1. To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff (or HLTA leading the class in the short-term absence of the class teacher), to implement planning and assessment, working with individual or small groups of pupils to achieve high levels of accelerated pupil progress.
  2. To support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting the inclusion of all pupils by developing their communication skills, supporting them to manage their behaviour, developing independence and social skills and to take responsibility for monitoring/reporting on the impact of class-based interventions.
  3. To provide supervision and guidance and learning opportunities in all non-lesson-based activities.
  4. Providing feedback to pupils in relation to their progress and achievement, under the guidance of the teacher
  5. Promoting good pupil behaviour and dealing with conflicts and incidents in line with school policies.
What are the job requirements?

  2. GCSE or Equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics at level 9 – 5.
  3. Child Care/NVQ/ other relevant qualification (related to education is desirable) at level 2.
  4. Experience of support work with children in an educational setting.
