TEACHING ASSISTANT / LEARNING FACILITATOR

Full or part-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year)

Hours: 8.45am to 4.15pm

Salary: £20,143.63 to £20,875.94 per annum (FTE £25,389 to £26,312). Specialist Learning
Facilitators’ salaries are from £20,499.87 to £21,035.41 per annum (FTE £25,838 to £26,513).

The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Teaching Assistant / Learning Facilitator to join the College’s Learning Support Department. The successful applicant will be required to work with staff and students on a variety of college courses to support student learning, as well as on a one-to-one or small group basis.

The post is available from 26 August 2025 on a permanent, full-time, term-time only basis (39 weeks per year). The hours of work are 8.45am to 4.15pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (79.34%).

Previous experience of working with teenagers is desirable, but not essential. The post holder will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, including covering lessons, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential.

The role requires an appreciation of working within an educational context supporting learning.

The post holder will be required to work with students with mild to complex learning needs. Whilst experience in this area is desirable, basic appreciation is essential. The post requires commitment and flexibility in the approach to work, with the ability to remain calm at all times. You will be required to attend our 3 Open Evenings in the autumn term for which time off in lieu will be given.

For those with additional qualifications there is a possibility of becoming a Specialist Learning Facilitator. You will undertake specialist work supporting students with SEND and EHCPs etc. You will act as a mentor and critical friend to other Learning Facilitators, ensuring that they are able to meet
the demands of their role. The Specialist Learning Facilitators are paid on a higher point on the scale (see salary details below).

Please see www.reigate.ac.uk/jobs for further details and an application form. Closing date: 9.00 am on Monday 7 July 2025.

Reigate College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Please note that it is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. The College will carry out an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
