Job summary

You will work with teachers to raise learning outcomes, foster a positive learning environment, and support student welfare. The post is 37 hours per week, term-time plus INSET days and five Saturdays, with a fixed contract until 31 August 2027.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • GCSE English and Maths (C or above).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and team oriented approach.
  • Willingness to understand classroom roles and responsibilities.

Job description

Brymore Academy is a State Boarding School for boys aged 11-16 set in its own 60-acre site with a working farm, gardens, workshops and sports facilities.

Brymore Academy is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team on fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive and dedicated team and to play a key role in the further development of this provision at our inclusive academy.

The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to work with teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils while also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.

Fixed Term Contract until 31/08/2027

37 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (Term Time plus INSET days plus 5 Saturdays)

Salary: BTCT Support Staff Pay Scale Band 3b Point 4

Actual annual salary: £19,820.66

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing independence.
  • Work closely with teachers to enhance student learning and attainment.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote self-esteem, good behaviour, and engagement in lessons.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to support student progress.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
  • A proactive, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • The ideal candidate for this role will want to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your position within these.
