Job summary

The Skipton Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support SEND students, including those with autism, on a fixed-term basis. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm, term-time only, with an unpaid lunch break and an early finish one afternoon each week.

The post is to 23 July 2027 and the salary is £22,145.83 per year. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the SENCO and Assistant Principal, helping students access learning, encouraging independence, and maintaining

• Support SEND students in all areas of school life as directed by teaching staff.
• Assist with monitoring progress and reporting to SENCO/Assistant Principal.
• Promote independent learning and positive pupil engagement.

Scale Pay Point 5 (Range 5-6)

Pattern of hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm with half an hour
unpaid lunch break each day and an early finish of 4.00pm one afternoon each week

Actual annual salary £22,145.83

The successful candidate will work as directed in meeting the additional educational needs of students and support them in all areas of school life, where necessary. The post holder will report progress of students’ performance to the Assistant Principal/SENCO and will carry out other duties as required. In addition, they will encourage students to become independent learners and at all times respect confidentiality of information relating to the academy trust and its students.
